Today, MSC announced a series of ports being reinstated on a few services. They explained the rotation as “part of our (MSC) continuous review of service and vessel rotations according to market needs.”
The port reinstated were Newark and Savannah. The ‘America’ service was reinstated in Newark starting on May 29, with its first vessel set to be Maersk Sydney, voyage number 222E. The service ‘Liberty’ also received a reinstatement in Savannah rather than Newark. With its change in policy being implemented starting on May 25, the first Liberty ship to go through the Savannah port will be the suiting, Zim Savannah, voyage number 010E.
These rotations require that the second Newark call on the Empire route be temporarily eliminated to assist with these reinstatements and preserve operational efficiency. The change was implemented as early as May 6; its starting vessel was Gustav Maersk, voyage number 218E.
