It was announced that tennis star Naomi Osaka will start her own agency, marking the 1st time a female athlete accomplished that feat.
Per Sportico, the multi-time Grand Slam winner will launch Evolve, following her exit from IMG.
The 24-year-old spoke on the matter, expressing that this move aligns with her career as an athlete and businesswoman.
“I’ve spent my career doing things my way, even when people told me that it wasn’t what was expected or traditional, Evolve is the natural next step in my journey.”
Osaka of course first made her fame by besting Tennis great, Serena Williams in the final of the 2018 US Open. Since the Japanese-American has enjoyed much success; winning a Grand Slam singles title in four consecutive years.
The star, who took a hiatus to focus on her mental health last year, begins this new business venture with Stuart Duguid, who had also left IMG.
She is currently listed as the 20th highest-paid athlete in the world, marked at $53.2 million.
