For one, the competition will expand from 12 to 16 teams for the first time in 2025, in an effort to boost engagement from fans. Rugby Football Union’s CFO Sue Day stated in regards to the format and England’s inclusion will “create a lasting legacy for women’s rugby,” enticing young female athletes of tomorrow to enter sports.
All-Time, England had won the World Cup twice and lost in the final five times.
The news was released ahead of the 2021 World Cup, which was delayed from last year due to the pandemic. New Zealand will host the long-awaited tourney from Oct 8th to November 12th, as the Men’s World Cup will emanate from France next year.
