Chicago Cubs owners to enter a bid in buying Chelsea

A couple of weeks in the news of the invasion in Ukraine, the sports world continues to have debates on what’s next within all of globalized athletics.

Amid the controversy of Roman Abramovich and his ties to Russia President Vladimir Putin, Thomas Ricketts and the Ricketts family enter the fray as new contenders to buy Chelsea.

The Ricketts family, owners of Major League Baseball’s Chicago Cubs join the likes of ex-Liverpool chairman Sir Martin Broughton in entering the bid, as the sanction of Abramovich and his assets rolls on.

Griner to be in Russian captivity till May; awaits hearing
Sticking with the ties to the news on the Russian Invasion, WNBA star Brittney Griner is slated to be held in captivity up until May 19th.

Reported by the Russian News Agency, TASS, the 31-year-old will have a hearing that if convicted, can face up to 10-yrs in prison.

The PHX Mercury star was revealed to be detained on March 6th, weeks after she was apprehended on a flight back to the states.

Ukrainian ex-tennis star advocates for banning of Russian tennis stars

Ukrainian and ex-tennis star Alexandr Dolgopolov advocates for the ban of Russian tennis stars.

Implicating the administration has been too passive, the 33-year-old spoke in defense of Russian tennis stars but maintained that saying words against war isn’t enough, especially being represented by their flag.

Dolgopolov was one of the many athletes to join a military defense unit for Ukraine.
