Off the heels of the sanction of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, the team has asked for this weekend’s upcoming FA Cup quarter-final in Middlesbrough to be played behind closed doors.
The issue stems from the government order that the team may continue playing despite the inability to sell tickets to their matches.
Chelsea sold on average 5-600 tickets of their 4,620 allocations before the license placing restrictions on the club came into effect on March 10th.
As Middlesbrough’s uneasiness on the matter looms, The Football Association will decide on Wednesday to decide whether to follow through with the plan.
The match is scheduled for this Saturday at 17:15 GMT.
