Rugby Clubs await changes on Covid Protocol before Champions Cup

Caution with COVID protocol continues to hit the airwaves of the world’s most popular sports. With France’s recent mandates on travel, English clubs have now become a casualty in the worldwide matter.

Bath and Sale are slated to play in the Champions Cup in France. However, due to France’s protocol on arriving patrons, positive COVID tests will see individuals placed in bubbles upon arrival for up to 10 days. Due to the short period between arrival and gameplay, players are hesitant on the quarantine rules as it may risk the ability to play, confining the rugby stars for the duration of the visit if not longer, testing positive on the PCR tests.

In an attempt to fix the issue, the French Sports Ministry is reportedly looking to lift the mandatory isolation rule, trying to find a better solution for players as the games they will be in town for will take place mere days after they land.

Players of the Bath and Sale clubs are holding off on the travel as they continue to work on a resolution; as they try to combat the issue and not repeat any cancellations that the respective clubs endured this past month due to the outbreak.
