In light of the speculation of her whereabouts, Chinese Tennis star Peng Shuai is set to meet with the IOC during the upcoming Olympic games.
Shuai was in the news for comments regarding Zang Gaoli last November.
The star posted to a Weibo social media post, alleging the then Vice Premier had sexually assaulted her. The comment was scrubbed from the country’s internet in less than an hour, which set off a two-week hiatus from Shuai.
Last month, she made an appearance at the International Ski Federation’s Cross-Country Skiing China City Tour. At the event, the 36-year-old denounced any claims of sexual assault, leaving fans, amid looming controversy in China, with more concern than confusion.
Shuai has not played since February of 2020, as she’s best known for becoming the first Chinese player in history to rank at #1 in doubles, being as high as 14 in singles.
The Winter Olympics will take place from February 4th through to the 20th.
